Srinagar, Jan 1: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has directed the Senior Superintendent of Police (Jammu) to file the action taken report in a case of attack on a foreign inmate in the district court premises. A division bench of the High Court comprising Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar and Justice Tashi Rabstan passed the direction after perusing the status report filed by the Superintendents of Central Jail Kotbalwal and District Jail Jammu. The High Court Bar Association has moved an application before the court seeking directions as to what action has been taken on a communication sent by an under-trial prisoner to the Superintendent District Jail Jammu about his attack in the district court premises Jammu. The Superintendent District Jail, Jammu has filed compliance report stating that a Pakistani under trial prisoner, Jamil, lodged in the jail was taken to court of Principal Sessions Judge, Jammu on 28 September, 2013 where a scuffle took place. He stated that the SSP was informed about the incident and was requested to take action in the matter. Pakistani under trial had sent a communication to the Superintendent, District Jamil, Jammu on the 'attack' on him. Earlier, the court had directed the Superintendents Central Jail Kotbalwal and district Jail Jammu to file an affidavit in three weeks indicating the action taken on the complaint filed by a Pakistani prisoner Jameel Ahmad stating that he was attacked by a prisoner Anchal Kumar in the court premises of district court at Jammu. The court said the perusal of the communication would show that the matter resulting in the injuries of the foreign inmate has been brought to the notice of the SSP, Jammu "but what action he has taken was not clear." Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom represented High Court Bar Association while the state was defended by Additional Advocate General R A Khan. /share/26208465 Source:Greater Kashmir
